People perform the Varshika Shraddha ritual yearly to give salvation to their ancestors, and they also refer to it as Barsi. This ritual is performed once a year on the Mrityu tithi date, which is known as Varsha Shraddha.
We annually or yearly offer the ritual called Shraddha to offer our ancestors the peace of their souls faithfully. In forefathers, conscious beings go to existence in higher realms. During the Varshika Shraddha Rituals, we always need to remember them and offer prayers and food to them.
According to the Hindu Panchang Tithi, one can decide the day to perform the Varshika Shraddha based on one’s death date. Samvatsara Abdika refers to it, and people usually perform the Varshika Shraddha vidhi at home, in a temple, or Punya Tirtha Kshetra.
We can also say the Varshika Shraddha is the “Annual Death Anniversary,” & “Barsi” are organized every year to give peace to departed souls. There are many other names for shraddha puja, such as Mritaanna Shraddha, Mrtanna Samvatsarik Sraddha, Samvatsarik Shraddha (or simply Samvatsarikam), or Paarvana Shraddha.
Vedic Reference: The marriage ceremony is primarily based on the Vivaha Sukta from the Rigveda (Book 10, Hymn 85), which describes the divine marriage of Surya (daughter of the Sun) and is considered the prototype of all Hindu marriages.
